New Member Experience
The Phi Program – This eight-week new member program enhances the Phi Mu Experience by helping new members transition into Fraternity membership. The online component includes an orientation, expectations of membership and journal prompts which help our new members begin their lifetime involvement in Phi Mu. The online modules in partnership with Phi meetings provide new members with the framework for personal, academic, social and professional growth.
Letter From the Phi Director
My name is Vicki, I’m currently a sophomore Nursing major. I am the Phi Director, or New Member Educator, for the Spring 2018 and Fall 2018 pledge classes. I am extremely excited and passionate about this position and can’t wait to help our new members.
The Phi Program is an eight-week process where new, provisional members, referred to as Phis, learn about Phi Mu. The Phis will learn the history of Phi Mu, important information about our specific chapter, and prepare to become fully initiated members. During this program, Phis can participate in philanthropies, social events, and have many opportunities to become involved in our chapter. Some major events they will have the opportunity to participate in will be Bid Day, Big/Little Reveal, and the Phi Retreat. During these eight weeks, the Phis will create bonds and some of their favorite memories.
As Phi Director, my goal is to successfully educate our new members and prepare them to become fully initiated and active sisters in our chapter. I hope to provide them with a welcoming, empowering, and informational environment from which they can feel comfortable and grow. I will work to provide them ample opportunities to become involved in Phi Mu and the Greek Community as a whole. This is a wonderful time for personal development and education that will help them become vibrant and noble women. I can’t wait to show and help integrate our Phis into the wonderful sisterhood our organization embodies.
